About the Cotillion
A Cotillion is a formal event where young women are introduced to their local community as debutantes by their parents and/or guardians. It is a time to celebrate all the accomplishments and potential our young women possess. The Cotillion Season is a well-rounded experience that includes seminars, community service, fellowship, education, bonding, and family activities. This season is designed to support each young lady's future and provides an opportunity to earn monetary awards towards savings and/or collegiate education.
Union County Alumnae Chapter’s Debutante Cotillion Program
Our Debutante Cotillion Program celebrates the achievements and accomplishments of high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who meet our qualifications. This program is tailored for young women who:
-
Exhibit excellence in academics, uphold exemplary moral standards, and are actively engaged in their local community.
-
Will be high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors by September of the year the Cotillion Ball occurs.
-
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Program Benefits
Debutantes will connect with dynamic Delta women who are leaders in scholarship, public service, and social action. This mentorship, combined with new friendships, creates a unique and supportive network.
Commitment and Rewards
Being a debutante requires dedication, active participation, and hard work, but the rewards are significant. Our program includes educational workshops, cultural events, etiquette training, and service projects—all aimed at enhancing personal growth and transitioning into womanhood. Many of our debutantes have gone on to achieve remarkable success.
For more information about this chapter initiative, please contact Dr. Melita Pope Mitchell, Cotillion Committee Lead, at cotillion@unioncountydst.org.
